Publish Registration Forms and Display Registered Users with RegistrationMagic

Once you are done configuring a web form the way you want it, the next step is usually to publish the form on your site. After all, what is the use of creating a custom web form if it isn’t going to get published on the site. If you are running a WordPress powered website, then creating highly customized web forms is no difficult task. Using the RegistrationMagic plugin, even WordPress novices can create web forms like professionals do. RegistrationMagic equips you with so many form publishing tools that requiring the help of a professional is a thing of the past. So let’s get started with this guide and learn how to publish registration forms and display registered users on your WordPress site.

This guide will assume that you already have RegistrationMagic installed on your site and have already created a form using it. If you haven’t, then please go ahead and do that now. This’ll help you follow along with the guide and publish registration forms and display registered users on your site with ease.

Navigate to the “Publish” Section of your Form Dashboard

Access the “All Forms” screen of RegistrationMagic from the WordPress Dashboard. You can do that clicking on the RegistrationMagic Dashboard menu item. Move your cursor on the form you have created and click the Dashboard link at the bottom of it.

On the Form Dashboard screen, scroll down until you find the “Publish” set of options. Every feature listed in the “Publish” section helps publish some data related to that form on the frontend of the site. We’ll explore them all one at a time.

1. Shortcode

This is the most common way to publish registration forms and display registered users on your WordPress site. Just click on the Shortcode icon and copy the shortcode displayed on the popup that appears next.

Publish Shortcode

Use this shortcode on any post or page and the form will appear there.

2. HTML Code

In addition to shortcode, you also have the option to display your form in an iFrame anywhere on the site. You can do this with the help of the HTML Code publish option. In case you wish to add your own styling to the form, just replace the class mentioned in this code with the CSS class of your own design.

Drag the RegistrationMagic Form widget from the Widget list and drop it on the widget area of your choice. For this example, I am adding the form to the Blog Sidebar. Then, select the form which you want to display in this widget. I have selected the General Purpose Registration Form.

4. User Directory

This option is also a shortcode, but displays the users that have submitted a form, instead of a form. Click on the icon and then click on the “Copy” link in the popup that appears next. This will copy the shortcode to display all users with successful form submissions on the frontend.

Publish Directory

You can also tweak this shortcode by adding an extra parameter if you want to filter by time based form submissions. Omitting the form ID in the shortcode will display all users who have submitted all the published forms.

Combined with the form publish options mentioned above, this shortcode is all that you need to publish registration forms and display registered users on your WordPress site.

5. User Area

With the help of the User Area shortcode, you can now publish user profile containing user’s form submission data on the frontend. This User Area will contain different information tabs, such as “Personal Details”, “Registration”, and “Inbox”. User can access this area by logging in from the frontend of the site.

6. Magic PopUp

The Magic PopUp is an innovative solution offered only by RegistrationMagic. Magic PopUp allows users to access their form submission data, payment details, user profile personal details etc. all on one single button. This button floats on all pages of the site and users can access information offered by it no matter where they are on the site. Even forms can be made accessible through the Magic PopUp button. Which the users can then fill in and submit.

To make your form appear on the Magic PopUp button, click on its icon. Then, click on the star icon that appears on the popup that appears next. This will set your selected form as the default form on the Magic PopUp button.

Next, go back to the Global Settings >> Magic PopUp Button settings and turn on the MagicPopup system. Scroll down to the Custom Link #1 field and check the box next to it. Choose “Page” as “Link Type” and from the drop-down below, select your form. Then click the Save button to save the changes.

7. OTP Login

The OTP login system of RegistrationMagic helps users without WordPress login credentials to access the frontend user area. RegistrationMagic does this by checking whether email address was used during a past form submission by that user. If that is true and the user doesn’t have an account on the site, then the user receives an OTP on his/her email address.

To setup RegistrationMagic’s OTP login, go to Appearance >> Widgets menu in WordPress dashboard and look for the RegistrationMagic Login widget. This is the widget for RegistrationMagic form submissions with OTP login. Only non-registered users can access this feature as it doesn’t require a user to have a user account on the site.

Drag the widget and drop it to the widget area of your choice. I am adding it to the Blog Sidebar.

Once we are ready to sign up users, the next thing we need to do is to publish and display registration forms on WordPress site. If the site is running a ready-made theme, chances are that it came with its own built in page acting as a basic registration form. But for most admins, there’s always a purpose and clear set of goals to turn on registrations for their WordPress site. It can be setting up of a user account area for users to access secure information, run a newsletters list, connect associates with their business, collaborate for web publishing, registering users for events or classes, and the list keeps on going. For all this and more, default WordPress registration form simply won’t cut.

Now, I assume you are already familiar with RegistrationMagic and know how to build forms with it. If not, head over to our earlier blog posts. Once we have the form ready, we want it accessible on our website, linked to a menu item or a button for visibility. The shortest and simplest way to do is through shortcode. We’ll go through all the possible methods one by one.

  1. The ShortCode Method

Each Registration form has a unique shortcode attached to it. All we need to do is, paste the shortcode inside a page, post, or a widget, where form is to be displayed. It can be above the content, below it, or anywhere in the middle.

Let’s say we created a form named “Demo Form”. If we open the Forms Manager and look on the bottom half of the form card, we’ll see a snippet of text like this:

shortcode-location

The number in the code signifies the form ID. It is different for each form. So for the “Demo Form” for our shortcode. A shortcode starts and ends with a square bracket. It needs to be copied as a whole.

Moving along, let’s create a new page on our site called “Sign Up” and paste this code inside content editor. Now it will look like this:

shrtcode-paste

Update the page and preview the changes. The form will start appearing on the page. And that’s all there is to it. Remember, here we created a new page, but we can also paste the code in an existing page or post. Just place it where you want the form to appear. It can be after, say, a couple of paragraphs.

  1. The Quick ShortCode Method

Well, it’s the same method sans the first step. We can insert shortcode right from the page/ post editor (without needing to copy it first from the form card). All we have to remember is the name of the form which we want to show.

See a drop down above the content editor which says “Add Form”? Clicking on it will drop down a list of forms we have created so far.

drop-down-location

Click on the form and corresponding shortcode will be automatically get pasted inside the content editor.

  1. The Embed Method

This method to display registration forms on WordPress site is for advanced users and therefore only available in Gold Bundle of RegistrationMagic. It works best when we want to show a RegistrationMagic form where there’s no option to paste the shortcode. For example – a site outside our WordPress site! Yes, we can display form on any site using this method and the registration records will show as usual inside your RegistrationMagic dashboard area.

Let’s get back to form manager page, shall we?

shortcode-location

Alright, now just below the shortcode is an underlined link named “Get form embed code”. Clicking on it pops up a translucent black box.

embed-code

An embed code is a lot longer than the ‘short’ code since it will be carrying more information about the form to be displayed on the external page. For those familiar with HTML can easily adjust the size of the form by modifying this code. The format is <embed ….some code…. >

We need to copy all of it. For the demonstration here, I am going to paste this code inside a blank HTML page.

embed-html

Opening the page in a browser displays this:

So, these were the best 3 ways to display registration forms on WordPress site. I am sure publishing forms will be a piece of cake for you after this. Join us for our next post on another interesting feature very soon.

Display WordPress Member Directory with RegistrationMagic

Let’s say you are arranging a meeting and you create a registration form on your site to take in members for that meeting. How would you display WordPress member directory for the users that registered to attend the meeting? You would probably collect the list of users who submitted the form and try to display it on one of your pages. That means you’d probably write the list on a page manually one name at a time. How tedious! Also, with manual work comes the chances of errors. So, it is better to take help of a plugin which can solve your problem with a few clicks.

With the RegistrationMagic plugin, this process is pretty much a cakewalk. How? Well, that’s exactly what we are going to see next in this article. But first, you need to install this WordPress registration forms plugin on your site. If you need a quicker route to get there, just download and install one of the many useful Form Templates available for RegistrationMagic.

So, let’s start our discussion on how to display WordPress member directory on the site frontend.

WordPress Member Directory form manager

Then, hover your cursor on the form cover and click on the “Dashboard” link. This is the section that allows you to manage and modify elements of your form. Moreover, this area takes care of your WordPress form design. Next, scroll down to “Publish” and click on “User Directory”.

WordPress Member Directory publish section

Now, after clicking on this icon, a pop-up appears with images of some fictitious users as an example. However, this is the way users of your registration form will appear on the frontend. Next, click on “Copy” to copy the shortcode visible on the right side of the screen.

WordPress Member Directory publish directory

However, there might be instances where you need to display only specific users from the registered list. In that case, just add another parameter to the shortcode, named ‘timerange’. The ‘timerange’ parameter can take in the year, month, week or even today as the value. So only the users who registered within the given ‘timerange’ will display on the frontend. Moreover, one can omit the ‘form_id’ parameter to display registered user directory from all forms. Here, we’ll just stick to our mission of displaying all the users from one particular form.

Publishing Page to Display WordPress member directory

Create a new page from your dashboard “Pages” >> “All Pages” menu. Name the new page as ‘User Directory’. We are going to put the shortcode to display user directory of our form on this page.

WordPress Member Directory add new page

Next, paste the shortcode copied earlier from the Publish section of your form Dashboard and click the “Publish” button. Finally, your page is ready for a frontend view. Click the “View Page” from the top of your page beneath the “Edit Page” heading. This will lead you to the frontend view of the page.

Display WordPress Form Using HTML code
We already have the idea that a WordPress registration form page is published using a shortcode. Then why use HTML code to do the same thing? When you display WordPress form using HTML code rather than a shortcode, it enhances your options. With HTML codes, you can add or remove elements according to your necessity.

WordPress allows us to display WordPress form using HTML code. One can do this by taking a few steps on the WordPress dashboard itself. On the other hand, you can also download form creation plugins to help you add custom HTML codes to your WordPress form.

In this blog, we will discuss why and how should we display WordPress form using HTML code with the WordPress registration form plugin, RegistrationMagic.

With custom HTML codes, your form is guaranteed to attract more attention. Since it will have custom user data fields compared to the content of default WordPress forms. For example, by using HTML codes you can embed images to your form to make it more attractive. To sum up, your form will now draw more visitors who will be willing to fill up the form. Thus, you will earn more users to your site.

So, let’s start our tutorial, where we will learn to display WordPress form using HTML code.

Fetching the predefined HTML code

So, we will start by first installing the RegistrationMagic plugin. This plugin makes form creation really easy. It offers inbuilt custom form fields and shortcodes to publish forms on the frontend.

Tips: With RegistrationMagic, you can configure registration form in WordPress from scratch without using any code.

If you haven’t created a form already, then do it from the All Forms page from the plugin menu. In this example, we will work on an existing form that we created with RegistrationMagic.
