If you’ve ever bought something online (that’s most of us!), you’re probably familiar with the checkout process:

Add product to cart → Click checkout → Register for an account → Pay → Receive item

And it’s the same with WooCommerce. You can require your users to register for an account before they checkout. But here’s what you can’t do in WooCommerce:

Add extra custom user registration fields for WooCommerce to your checkout registration field.

At least not without help…

With Registration Magic, you can add as many extra custom user registration fields for WooCommerce registration form as your heart desires. Whether you want to find out where your visitors found your store, get more demographic data, or collect anything else…our WordPress Registration Plugin can help.

Here’s exactly how you can add new form fields to WooCommerce using Registration Magic Premium.

Step 1: Disable Guest Checkout

In order for your custom WooCommerce registration form fields to show up, the first thing you need to do is disable guest checkout for WooCommerce.

That means your guests will no longer be able to checkout without creating an account (or logging into an existing account). It’s necessary for your custom WooCommerce form fields to display.

You can disable guest checkout by going to WooCommerce → Settings → Checkout. Find the Enable Guest Checkout checkbox beside the Checkout Process section and make sure you uncheck it:

add-fields-to-woocommerce-registration-form-1

Step 2: Create Your New WooCommerce Registration Form Fields

Now, you’re ready to create your brand spankin’ new WooCommerce registration form fields. Your new form fields will display below the standard WooCommerce registration form.

You can create those new fields just like you would any other Registration Magic form. Here’s the process…

First, go to RegistrationMagic → Add Form. Make sure to give your form a name. You can leave all the other settings as blank or default:

add-fields-to-woocommerce-registration-form-2

On the next page, scroll down and click the Pages and Fields button:

add-fields-to-woocommerce-registration-form-3

In this interface, you can add the new fields you want to appear on your WooCommerce registration form. Remember – you don’t need basic fields like Email Address and Name. Those are already included in the standard WooCommerce registration form.

Let’s say, for example, that you want to add two new fields:

  • Age
  • Where did you find us?

You can create a simple text entry field for age and a dropdown with options for “Where Did You Find Us?”:

add-fields-to-woocommerce-registration-form-4

Just click on the form fields at the top of the page to add them. When you add each form field, you’ll be able to configure its options.

When you’re finished, your form field settings should look something like this (you can ignore the Email field – it won’t display on the final product):

add-fields-to-woocommerce-registration-form-5

Step 3: Tell WooCommerce to Use Your Custom Registration Fields

Last step, I promise! Now, you just need to set up the WooCommerce integration in Registration Magic.

To do that, go to RegistrationMagic → Global Settings → WooCommerce Integration:

add-fields-to-woocommerce-registration-form-6

Select the form you just created from the dropdown and click save:

add-fields-to-woocommerce-registration-form-7

And that’s it!

Now, when your users go to checkout, they should see two added fields below the standard WooCommerce registration form:

add-fields-to-woocommerce-registration-form-8

Step 4: Updates to WooCommerce functionality

Our Display Fields are also part of WooCommerce integration. Display Fields are informational snippets that you can add to your WooCommerce forms. It is a unique new system that adds extra layers of information, animations and dynamic data to your users while they fill up the form. You can insert these fields from the ‘Add Fields’ pop-up of RegistrationMagic’s Fields Manager.

With the launch of version 4.3.0.0 you can now do the opposite. It means, you can now add WooCommerce fields to any RegistrationMagic form! That’s right, even a regular form like a contact form. Beginning with this version, you will find a new section of fields appearing in your Fields Manager.

As you can see in the screenshot – WooCommerce Billing, Shipping and Number fields are visible right inside Fields Manager popup. Click on them to add to your forms. Remember, these fields will appear just like they do in WooCommerce checkout form. For users with an existing account, submitting a form with one of these fields will update user specific values in the database.

So this is another step towards a richer and more meaningful WooCommerce integration for your forms; and, there’s even more in store for you. Our future plans include adding WooCommerce products to your registration forms.

Wrapping Things Up

While you can technically use RegistrationMagic to add unlimited new fields to your WooCommerce registration form, we recommend that you be discerning when choosing which extra fields to add. Use your newfound power wisely. Add only those fields which truly provide you with valuable information.

We also recommend that you read our advance WordPress User Login Plugin guide. With Registration Magic, you can very easily step-up your WooCommerce user login analytics, and monitor user login timelines, login failure vs success rates and other important login parameters. You can also modernize your WooCommerce login process with two factor authentication and other advance login features.

Lastly, you can checkout RegistrationMagic Free and Premium plans comparison at this link.

Dropbox Forms

Ever wished that you could have Dropbox forms to upload copies of your form submissions to directly to Dropbox? Most WordPress contact form plugins make it easy to send yourself notifications or log entries in WordPress’ dashboard…

But what if you need more than that? Uploading your form submissions to Dropbox not only allows you to create a backup of all your submissions, but it also opens up some cool uses thanks to Dropbox’s user access control. This also allows you to use WordPress forms as Dropbox Forms.

For example, if you’re using a form to accept job applications, you can implement Dropbox forms through WordPress. You could automatically share all of those submissions with other members of your team…even if those members don’t have a WordPress account. All you’d need to do is grant them access to the folder on Dropbox!

There are heaps of other potential uses beyond backing up your contact forms, which is why I’m excited to show you how to use this new RegistrationMagic’s Dropbox forms feature.

How to Save WordPress Form Submissions to Dropbox

The Dropbox forms integration feature works like this:

Users fill out your WordPress contact or registration form like normal. You still get an email notification (if enabled) and see the entry in Registration Magic. The only change is that Registration Magic will also upload a PDF version of the form submission to Dropbox.

And because you’ll also have access to all of Dropbox’s user control features, you can share these files or folders with people who may not have access to your WordPress site.

To set it up, you’ll need to:

  • Set up your global Dropbox integration
  • Enable the Dropbox integration for each individual form you want the feature to work on

Here’s how to do both.

How to Configure Dropbox Global Integration with WordPress forms

Before you can set up RegistrationMagic forms integration with Dropbox, you’ll need to generate something called an Access Key for Dropbox.

To do that, head to this Dropbox page and click Create App:

dropbox-access-0

Then choose the Dropbox API option, give it access to a specific folder, and give a name to your app. The name can be anything! Up to you:

dropbox-access-1

Once you’ve filled everything out, click Create app at the bottom. On the next screen, scroll down until you find the Generated access token option and click Generate.

dropbox-access-2

You should see a long string of random characters. This is the string you need to copy and paste into RegistrationMagic.

Once you have your access token, go to your WordPress dashboard and navigate to RegistrationMagic → Global Settings and choose the External Integration option:

dropbox-access-3

Then, scroll down to Dropbox App Access Token and paste in the access token that you generated in Dropbox’s interface:

dropbox-access-4

Make sure to click Save and you’re finished!

Enable Dropbox Uploads on Individual Forms

Now that you have the global Dropbox setting configured, it’s easy to add Dropbox uploads to specific forms that you’ve created with RegistrationMagic.

Just head to the form for which you’d like to enable Dropbox uploads. In your dashboard for that form, scroll down to Add Apps To Your Form and select Dropbox:

dropbox-access-5

All you need to do is check the box to Upload Submission PDF on Dropbox.

dropbox-access-6

Now, whenever someone submits that specific form, Registration Magic will automatically add a PDF copy to your app’s folder in Dropbox

dropbox-access-7

To add Dropbox forms uploads for additional forms, you just need to repeat this step for each form.

The path to access Dropbox files is: My FIles>Site Name Folder>Form Name Folder

I hope you enjoyed this tutorial. And if you have any questions about how to back up WordPress form submissions to Dropbox, please leave them in the comments.

Registration Magic has always made it easy to accept payments on WordPress. But now, we’re happy to announce that that functionality has gotten even better. We’ve rolled out a variety of improvements to give you even more flexibility for the types of payments you accept via your Registration Magic forms.

In this post, I’d like to go hands-on with some of the new features and show you everything that we’ve added.

Note that this article is part of RegistrationMagic Payments Guide. Access complete guide here: Payments Guide: Setup payments on Registration form using Products

Add a Quantity Field to Your WordPress Payment Form

Now, you’re no longer restricted by singularity! In the new version of Registration Magic, you can add a quantity field to your payment form to easily allow your customers to select how much they want of whatever it is you’re selling.

And because this introduced a new variable where pricing changes depending on the quantity your customer selects, we also rolled out a new “Total” field that tabulates everything up and lets your customer know exactly how much they need to pay.

How to Do It

To allow your users to specify a quantity for your price fields, go to RegistrationMagic → Price Fields and either create a new price field or edit one of your existing fields. Then, at the bottom of the general settings, make sure to check the Allow User to Specify Quantity box:

add-total-field-to-payment-form-2

Then, if you’d like to add a Total field, here’s what to do:

When you create a new form or edit a form’s General Settings, make sure to check the Show Total Price on the Form box:

add-total-field-to-payment-form

Accept Offline Payments via WordPress

We added more than just quantity, though! We also gave you a few new payment methods.

First up – offline payments.

Now, your visitors can fill out a form on your website and then pay offline, whether that’s cash, bank transfer, or anything else! Just because it’s a digital world doesn’t mean you should be forced to accept online payments. Now, you don’t have to.

How to Do It

To enable offline payments, all you need to do is go to RegistrationMagic → Global Settings and then choose the option for Payments:

add-total-field-to-payment-form-3

Then, check the box for Offline payments:

add-total-field-to-payment-form-4

Make sure to Configure your offline payments after you check the box.

Accept Authorize.Net Payments via WordPress

Beyond offline payments, you can now accept Authorize.Net payments via WordPress forms that you create with Registration Magic.

We recognize that you might have a need to accept payment methods beyond PayPal. So now, you’re no longer limited to PayPal.

How to Do It

Just like with offline payments, head to RegistrationMagic → Global Settings and choose Payments.

Then, check the Authorize.net box and make to configure it by clicking the Configure button right beside it:

add-total-field-to-payment-form-5

That’s all there is to it!

What It All Looks Like On the Front-end

Before I check out of this post, I want to quickly show you what all of these new additions look like on the front-end. Here’s a quick post I created to showcase the new variable quantity and total price functionality:

add-total-field-to-payment-form-6

And you can, of course, apply any of the new payment gateways to this form.

Wrapping Things Up

To sum up the new payment features, you can now:

  • Allow customers to choose variable quantities for your pricing fields
  • Display an order total at the bottom of your form
  • Accept offline payments
  • Accept Authorize.net payments

And there’s plenty more coming soon!

Do you need to collect a ton of information from a WordPress contact or registration form? While you should always try to keep your forms as short as possible, there are still times when it’s unavoidable.

In such cases, it might be a better idea to create a multi-page form, instead of one long single-page form. With a multi-page form, at least users won’t be immediately overwhelmed by all of the information that you’re trying to collect!

In this post, I’m going to show you how to quickly create a multi-page form in WordPress using our very own Registration Magic plugin.

How to Create a Multi-Page Form for Your WordPress Site

One quick note before I begin – in order to create a multi-page form, you’ll need the Premium version of Registration Magic. You can purchase it by heading here.

Once you’ve got the premium version installed, you’re ready to get started.

Begin by going to Registration Magic → Add Form to create a new form:

how to create multi-page form wordpress

Give it a name and select what type of form you want to create. You can either create a WP Registration Form if you want to create new user accounts or use a Non-WP Registration form if you don’t want to create new user accounts (for example, a multi-page contact form).

At the bottom of this page, you can also choose whether or not you want to enable a Previous button on your multi-page form. When checked, users will not be able to move back to previous pages in the form:

create-a-multi-page-form-2

Once you save those changes, you’ll be in your form’s dashboard.

How to Add New Fields and Pages

To add fields and pages, scroll down and find the Look and Feel box:

create-a-multi-page-form-3

On the Fields Manager page you can do two things:

  • Add new fields to each form page
  • Add new pages to your form

To add fields to the first page of your form, just click on a field at the top:

create-a-multi-page-form-4

Once you’re happy with Page 1, you can add a new page by clicking on the New Page button:

create-a-multi-page-form-5

Then, you just need to repeat the process for as many fields and pages as you need! Head back to your form’s dashboard when you’re finished.

How to Style Your Brand New Multi-Page Form

If you’d like to add custom styling to your multi-page form, you can easily do that using real-time editing by going to Design under Look and Feel on your form’s dashboard:

create-a-multi-page-form-6

Then, simply click on one of the highlighted areas to edit its styling:

create-a-multi-page-form-7

How to Embed Your Multi-Page Form

Ok, now that you’ve created a WordPress form with multiple pages, you need to actually embed it so that your visitors can use your new form!

To do that, all you need to do is grab the shortcode from you form’s dashboard:

create-a-multi-page-form-8

Then, add that shortcode to whichever post or page where you’d like your multi-page form to appear. Once you publish that post or page, you should see your form on the front-end!

With Registration Magic Premium, it’s easy to create multiple page forms using WordPress. In fact, it really doesn’t take any more effort than creating a regular single-page form!

But if you need any further assistance, please don’t hesitate to leave a comment and we’ll do our best to help you out!

Add Extra Fields to WordPress Registration Plugin

Welcome to our ‘Custom Registration Form’ WordPress Tutorial. Need to add extra custom fields to the WordPress registration form plugin? There are a number of reasons you might want to collect extra information from the users registering for your WordPress site.

For example, you might want to:

Or something else! There are a myriad of reasons why learning more about your registered users is helpful.

Unfortunately, WordPress doesn’t let you add fields to the registration form…or even customize the style of the register form (that’s a whole different story!).

So, if you find yourself needing some new or extra fields, you’ll need a third-party plugin. And that’s where RegistrationMagic plugin comes into play.

RegistrationMagic lets you add unlimited extra custom form fields to your WordPress registration forms. And you can also configure whether or not the custom fields you add show up in a user’s profile page. Let’s get started with our Custom Registration Form WordPress Tutorial:

Adding Custom Fields to the WordPress Registration Form

To get started, you can use either the free or premium version of Registration Magic, WordPress user registration plugin with custom fields.

Once you’ve activated the plugin, you should head on over to your new RegistrationMagic tab and click Add Form:

add-form-fields-wordpress-register-1

Give it a name, a description to help you remember it, and make sure to check the WP Registration Form box.

Further down the page, you can choose to add some content which displays above the form. This can be nice to give a welcome message or instructions, but is not required.

Once you’ve filled everything out, make sure to click Save.

Add Your New Registration Form Custom Fields

Once you click Save, you’ll be at your form dashboard. Here you can view analytics, submission entries, and more. To add new custom fields, find the Pages and Fields option:

add-form-fields-wordpress-register-2

Once you click it, you’ll be able to add new fields to your registration form. You can even turn your registration form into a multi-page form if desired!

To add a new custom field, just click on your desired field at the top:

add-form-fields-wordpress-register-3

Then you can customize the field by adding labels, placeholder text, and help text. You can also add icons and format the field’s shape and color.

add-form-fields-wordpress-register-4

At the bottom, you can choose whether or not you want the field to show up in the User Profile page inside the WordPress dashboard, as well as whether or not you want users to be able to edit the field after signup:

add-form-fields-wordpress-register-5

Once you’re finished, make sure to click the Save button to add your field.

RegistrationMagic lets you add specific fields for social networks, dates, gender, and more. Or, you can always create generic fields and customize them for whatever information you need to collect.

You can add as many fields as you’d like, though we recommend trying to keep your form as short as possible.

Insert Your New Registration Form

Once you’re finished adding custom fields to your form, the last thing you need to do is add it to your WordPress site. All you need to do is grab the embed code or the shortcode:

add-form-fields-wordpress-register-6

Then, you just add the code to the page where you want your form to appear:

add-form-fields-wordpress-register-7

And your form will appear on that page!

Remember, you can always style your registration form if you don’t like the way it looks with your theme.

RegistrationMagic plugin makes it simple to add extra fields and other customizations to WordPress forms. This concludes our Custom Registration Form WordPress Tutorial. Give it a try for free.

Ever wished you could add a floating shopping cart to WooCommerce? With a WooCommerce floating cart icon, shoppers can quickly view what’s in their cart without needing to direct their attention elsewhere.

With Registration Magic’s Magic Popup Button and WooCommerce Integration extensions, you can make your shoppers’ carts, as well as their account details, never more than a single click away.

Previously, I showed you how to add custom form fields to the WooCommerce registration form. Today, I’m going to show you how to use Registration Magic’s Magic Button to create a WooCommerce floating cart icon.

So What is This Magic Popup Button Thing?

Magic Button is a feature offered in the premium version of Registration Magic. It adds a floating WooCommerce shopping cart icon to the bottom right of your users’ screens. By default, that icon looks like this:

registration-magic-button-1

When users click on it, a menu option slides up with a number of registration-focused features:

WooCommerce-Floating-Cart

When enabled, one of those options is a user’s WooCommerce cart. Users can click the cart button to expand their cart:

WooCommerce-floating-cart-registration-magic-button-3

Then, they can click the checkout button directly from the Magic Button! That means no matter what theme you’re using, your shoppers’ carts (and your checkout process!) will always be right there.

Interested? Here’s how you can get your very own Magic Button.

How to Set Up Magic Button Shopping Cart

First off, you will need the Premium version of Registration Magic to get started. The WooCommerce Integration extension is required for this functionality. So if you haven’t already upgraded to premium, you’ll need to get that taken care of first.

Then, you’re ready to dig into Registration Magic’s settings to get everything all set up.

Step 1: Turn on Shopping Cart Magic Button

First, you need to enable the Magic Button shopping cart option in your WooCommerce integration settings. Then, you can configure the rest of your Magic Button in the next step.

Get started by going to Registration Magic → Global Settings. Then click on the WooCommerce Integration option:

registration-magic-button-4

Next, make sure that the SHOW CART ON POPUP MENU box is checked:

registration-magic-button-5

This enables the shopping cart feature for your Magic Button.

Step 2: Configure Magic Button

Now you’re ready to configure your Magic Button! Go back to Registration Magic → Global Settings and choose the Magic Popup Button option.

registration-magic-button-6

Make sure you check the SHOW MAGIC POP-UP BUTTON, MENU AND PANELS:

registration-magic-button-7

That’s all you technically need to do! But if you want to configure the options and look of your Magic Button, you can also do that on this page.

First off, you can customize the WooCommerce shopping cart icon used on your Magic Button. For example, if you want to give your Magic Button a shopping cart icon, you can download a free shopping cart icon (there are plenty of free WooCommerce shopping cart icon sites!) and upload that:

registration-magic-button-8

Doing so will give you something more like this:

registration-magic-button-9

And finally, you can also customize the links which appear on your Magic Button popup. You can both remove links and add new custom links.

If you want to really focus on highlighting a shopper’s cart, you may want to disable the other links:

registration-magic-button-10

Doing so will make your Magic Button look like this when your visitors click on it:

registration-magic-button-11

One cool use for the Custom Links option would be to add a support link beneath a user’s cart. That way, shoppers can instantly get help if there’s anything preventing them from buying right away:

registration-magic-button-12

Wrapping Things Up on WooCommerce Floating Cart

Setting up the Magic Button WooCommerce cart integration literally takes ten seconds! Your visitors will appreciate the quick access to their shopping cart. And your sales may well just increase as a result!

If your site offers public registration, the WordPress register form is the gateway to your WordPress site. But by default, it’s totally boring and unbranded. No matter how beautiful your front-end theme looks, you’re stuck with this as your default register form:

custom-style-register-form-wordpress-1

Not very memorable, is it?

To get around that, you can add custom styling to your WordPress register form. And in this post, I’m going to show you exactly how to do that using two different methods. First, I’ll show you how to customize registration form styles with Registration Magic. Then, I’ll show you another way using a plugin called Custom Login Page Customizer.

Sounds good? Let’s get started.

Customize WordPress Register Form Style With Registration Magic

Registration Magic allows you to both customize the style and fields of your register form. Then, you can display your register form anywhere on your site using a simple shortcode.

To get started, install and activate either the free version or the premium version of Registration Magic. I’ll use the free version for this example.

Once you’ve activated the plugin, go to RegistrationMagic in the sidebar and click New Form:

custom-style-register-form-wordpress-2

Give it a title and make sure WP Registration Form is checked:

custom-style-register-form-wordpress-3

Then click Save at the bottom of the page. On the next page, scroll down to Design:

custom-style-register-form-wordpress-4

Here, you can customize every aspect of your form’s style by clicking the flashing red dots:

custom-style-register-form-wordpress-5

Here’s a quick example after some basic styling (if you can tell, I’m not a professional designer!):

custom-style-register-form-wordpress-6

Once you’re happy with the style of your register form, you can insert it anywhere in your WordPress site by grabbing the shortcode from the form’s dashboard:

custom-style-register-form-wordpress-7

Just add that shortcode to a post or page and your new, styled registration form should appear:

custom-style-register-form-wordpress-8

As an added bonus, you can get detailed analytics for your registration form in your Registration Magic dashboard. You can even add fields to your form, too!

But, this method does require you to eschew the default WordPress register form. If you want to use the default WordPress form, you should try this instead…

Customize Registration Form With Custom Login Page Customizer

Custom Login Page Customizer won’t allow you to add fields or move your register form, but it’s a great option if all you want to do is add some styling to the default WordPress registration form.

To get started, install and activate the free plugin. It will allow you to customize your register form styles using the same WordPress Customizer you use to customize your theme.

Once you activate the plugin, go to Appearance → Login Customizer:

custom-style-register-form-wordpress-login-1

Then click Start Customizing!:

custom-style-register-form-wordpress-login-2

First, click on the Login Customizer option in the sidebar. Then, click on the Register link in the live preview to see your register form as you make changes:

custom-style-register-form-wordpress-login-3

Now, go through all of the settings and customize your registration form’s styles to your heart’s content. For example, you can add a logo, change colors, and use different styles for your form elements.

Here’s the registration form I created after a few minutes of tinkering. Again, no mocking my design skills! I wanted to choose something different to stand out:

Note – the plugin might reload your login form during the customization process. But you can always click back to your register form to preview changes (after you save them).

And that’s it! Two different ways to customize the style of the WordPress registration form. Whether you create powerful new registration forms with Registration Magic or just tweak the style of the default WordPress registration form, you’ll be enjoying your new design in no time.

If you’re using Registration Magic or another plugin to create custom forms for your WordPress site, you’re probably enjoying the newfound power to add any custom fields you want to your WordPress forms.

For example, the default WordPress register form only has two fields, but now you can add infinite fields! It’s time to get crazy, right? Should you collect birthdays? Favorite colors? Preferences for cats or dogs?

Ok, maybe I got a bit hyperbolic. But the point remains, you can add as many fields as you want to your WordPress forms. Now, the question becomes: should you?

In this post, I’ll take a look at what the data says about form length. By following the data, you can create a form that maximizes the number of signups or form submissions your site gets and makes your digital efforts more successful.

Data Point #1: 4-field Form Outperforms 11-field Form by 120%

Though the data is a bit old at this point, one of the most famous form length case studies comes from Imaginary Landscape. In it, they compared a lengthy 11-field form against a shorter 4-field form.

Imaginary Landscape managed these field reductions primarily by eliminating fields asking for the submitters’ addresses. After analyzing the data, Imaginary Landscape noticed a whopping 120.4% increase in the form’s conversion rate (AKA the number of users submitting the form out of the users who viewed the form).

How long should forms be?

Data Point #2: Expedia Saves $12 Million by Eliminating One Field

In example #2, Expedia managed to save $12 million per year in lost revenue by eliminating one tiny field from their forms. After testing, they found that the optional “Company” field on their form was confusing their users and leading to massive inefficiencies.

Removing that one field eliminated the issue and greatly improved their form’s success rate.

Data Point #3: 5, 7, and 9-field Forms Compared

In a three variant test, Marketo pitted 5, 7, and 9-field forms against each other. Each form kept the same basic 5 fields, but the longer forms added additional fields.

As the first two data points suggest, each set of added fields decreased the conversion rate for the form. The 5-field form converted at 13.4%, the 7-field form at 12%, and the 9-field form at 10%.

While the results weren’t as dramatic as the Imaginary Landscape case study, once again it seems that shorter forms outperform longer forms when put to the test.

Form Length – Is Shorter Always Better?

While the weight of the data lands on the side of shorter forms, you shouldn’t go cutting form fields willy-nilly. The goal should be to eliminate form fields that aren’t truly necessary, not to arbitrarily make every form 4-5 fields long.

If you absolutely need 7 form fields to collect all the needed information, then you need a 7-field form.

Pamela Vaughan of HubSpot, a company not known for short forms, highlights that “a shorter form usually means more people will be willing to fill it out…But the quality of the leads will be higher when visitors are willing to complete more forms fields and provide you with more information about themselves and what they’re looking for”

So, here’s the golden rule:

Cut unnecessary fields ruthlessly, but keep your forms as long as they need to be to collect all the needed information.

A plugin like Registration Magic allows you to customize every aspect of your WordPress forms. Just make sure you use this newfound power with respect. That way, you’ll create awesome forms that get you the information you need AND that your visitors are willing to, you know, actually fill out.

Do you want to change the default WordPress register URL? I don’t blame you. The default URL for WordPress’ registration form is a bit ugly and unintuitive. You have to send users to an offshoot of your login form instead of a nice branded URL like “yoursite.com/register”.

In fact, changing the WordPress register URL has two main benefits:

  1. It can harden your security by making it slightly harder for bots to find your registration page.
  2. It’s more user friendly and offers an opportunity for better branding.

In this post, I’ll show you two quick methods to change the WordPress registration form URL. First, by using Registration Magic to create a custom form which you can embed at any URL you’d like.

Then, I’ll show you a super easy, but less flexible, method using WPS Hide Login.

Sounds good? Let’s dig into it…

Changing the WordPress Register URL Using Registration Magic

To get started, you need to install and activate the free version of Registration Magic. Once the plugin is activated, you’ll see a new Registration Magic tab in your sidebar. Click on the Add Form option:

change-wordpress-register-url1Follow the steps to create your registration form. Once it’s created, you should see a summary of your form, including a handy shortcode embed:

Copy the shortcode embed for use in the next step.

Now, you need to create a new WordPress Page called “Register” with the URL slug “register”. You can make names whatever you want your register URL to be – I just picked “register” because it’s simple. You also need to paste the shortcode into the body of the WordPress Editor.

It should look like this:

change-wordpress-register-url3Hit publish and you’re done!! You should see a new registration form at your chosen URL:

change-wordpress-register-url4You can style the form and add fields using Registration Magic and CSS to make the form fit your site perfectly.

Changing the WordPress Register URL Using WPS Hide Login

If you want to change the URL for the default WordPress register form instead of creating a new custom registration form, you can do that with a plugin called WPS Hide Login. WPS Hide Login helps you change your login page URL which, as a consequence, also allows you to change your register URL.

To get started, install and activate the free WPS Hide Login plugin. Once it’s activated, you need to go to Settings → General and scroll to the bottom of the page. You should see a new WPS Hide Login box:

change-wordpress-register-url5

Just change the URL to your desired login URL prefix. For instance, if you change “login” to “join” your registration page will be located at “yourdomain.com/join/?action=register”.

Unfortunately, this method still requires your login and register pages to be joined together. But, it does allow for more customization than the default “login” URL.

Wrapping Things Up

There you go! Two quick and easy ways to change the WordPress registration form URL. If you’re just looking for the absolute simplest way to change the URL, you can use WPS Hide Login. Just remember that it will still require your login and register pages to be at the same base URL.

If you’re looking for full customization, you can use Registration Magic to create a custom WordPress register form and embed that form at whatever URL you desire. This method requires a little more upfront time investment, but it gives you a lot more power over where your registration page is located and how it functions.
