THREE FORKS — While she’s wearing a brace to protect the torn ACL in her right knee, Fallon Page still dominated Tuesday in Three Forks’ season opener.
The senior pitcher struck out seven of the batters she faced and drove in a run with a double at the plate in leading the Wolves to a 15-0 South B-C victory against Ennis. The contest was called after three innings due to the 15-run mercy rule.
“I know this is a different Ennis team from last year, but can't take nothing away from her, she's firing the ball,” Three Forks head coach Clay Feliciano said of Page. “She's got control pretty much over everything she's got. Amazing, we're pretty excited.”
The only blemish for Page was a leadoff walk to Kayzil Ostler to begin the third inning. But Ostler was thrown out a short time later by catcher Sierra Schall trying to steal second following a short passed ball.
“Obviously it's pretty easy to play a clean game when your pitcher's dealing like that,” said Feliciano. “Top to bottom, I think everybody got a hit.”
The Wolves finished with 12 hits and capitalized on every miscue committed by Ennis, which had six errors. Maycee Church scored the first run of the game on a passed ball in the bottom of the first, and then Grace Kluin belted a triple down the right field line and scored the second run on a passed ball in the second inning.
Three Forks led 7-0 after two innings and then put the game away in the third following a leadoff home run by Sierra Lindquist, who finished 2 for 3 at the plate.
“That was Lindquist's first-ever home run like in her life over the fence. That was a big deal. That's our No. 8 hitter,” said Feliciano. “Even our No. 9 nine went 3 for 3. So that's pretty encouraging. We're excited, we're really excited.”
Kluin, the team’s No. 9 hitter, had a hit in all three of her plate appearances. Nova Ervin was 2 for 3 with a pair of doubles, while AdaRae Thomas added a double.
The Wolves return to action April 2 hosting Butte Central.
